FAQ

Mammoth Serenity Ultrasonic Diffuser

I received mine a couple of days ago and it keeps turning off after 20 minutes or so in each settings I've tried. Why?

Try to be sure there is enough water, otherwise it has a seeing where it automatically turns off after an interval of being on, but should come back on automatically as well. Otherwise contact Mammoth Customer support for further assistance.

Does it has a timer? Some last 4, 6, 8 or more hours. What is the maximum time for this to be diffusing constantly?

It does not have a timer. It has 2 settings; intermittent and constant. On intermittent it would likely go for 8 hours. On constant flow it can reach 6 easily. Warning, after a few uses it becomes hard to open, like a suction.

Is it common for the mist to come out so thick it just falls to the surface it sits on or is mine defective? My table ends up covered in water and oil.

You may have filled it past the fill line and/or used too much oil. Otherwise contact Mammoth Customer support for further assistance.

Mammoth Serenity made in?

Made in China.

How do I get it to work intermittently? There were no directions.

There are two small rubber buttons located directly over where the electric plug is attached to the unit. The top button controls the on/off cycle as well as the intermittent cycles: Pressed 1x for continuous diffusing - Press 2x for 2-minute-ON/OFF - Press 3x for 3-minute-ON/OFF to maximize use for approx. 6-8 HR. Press 4x to turn unit OFF. The bottom button controls the lights: Press once to cycle multi-colors and more times to keep just one color illuminating. Or, press the light button to turn off the light. Love this little bagel-looking unit!

What size room does it work for? Would it work for a large room like a living room or family room?

Compact as it may be, it is super beneficial. Personally, I feel that the aroma and medicinal effects of the essential oils used in this diffuser are evident and work throughout each level of my home (approx. 1500 sq ft each). I usually place it in a central location for use through the day. Or, move the unit into a bedroom when necessary to diffuse medicinal or sleep-time oils at night.

Does it needs replacements like cartridges or something to work before a time?

No. This diffuser needs water and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Runs for a few hours. Shuts itself off when water drops to a certain level.

Does gunk build up? It it easy to clean?

I use mine daily & no gunk but I'm sure it depends on how much oil you use too. I use 4-6 drops per fill.

What to do if water went in air outlet and no mist coming out?

Try to remove all the water from the diffuser and to clean the water from the air outlet by using a piece of cotton then keep it open for few hours to dry well or keep it for one day, then fill it with water as usual and operate it, I hope this will be beneficial and work with you.

Does it have a plug?

Yes, it comes with a power cord and must be plugged in to function as it does not run off of batteries.

It says that there is a 1 year limited warrany and to visit your website for tutorials and instructions, but I didn't see a website posted?

The warranty is 1 year from the date of your purchase! Simply call or visit us (Mammoth - info printed on the user manual as well as packaging) or you can also send us a message directly via our contact form.

Is it made of wood?

No, it is hard plastic that resembles wood grain. I would think real wood would warp under the moisture produced by the vapors of the unit.

Can you use citrus oil in it?

Yes. Also Young Living and Native American Nutritionals - all excellent companies with the highest quality oils.

I received this unit yesterday and it worked great. Today it won't "see" there is water in it. Filled just below square but red light just flashes.

Make sure you're not using distilled/reverse-osmosis or high-alkaline water, the vapors won't come through if you do. If straight tap water yields the same results, return the defective unit.

Is it normal for this diffuser to emit thick fog-like mist that cascades to a downward direction? I love the aesthetics but it scares me.

Yes, that fog is normal or at least it happens with mine. I don't think you have anything to fear. It is just concentrated water and essential oils. I find it mesmerizing. Enjoy it!

What powers this unit? Does it run on batteries?

It has an adapter that plugs into the wall - no batteries! Works great - has automatic shut-off too.

Does it charge via USB to use in the car?

It plugs in to an outlet. If you got some kind of converter that allowed a 2 prong plug that might work.

Does this thing really purify air?

No. This is diffuser and should be used only with essential oil for aromatherapy or for scented smells. To clean air, an air purifier is needed.

Does it heat the oil?

Nope. The air comes out cool. It uses ultra sonic vibrations at 1 million x per second to diffuse the water.

Can this work with 220V power?

No, it cannot.

White noise?

This item has many problems but "white noise" is not one of them. You can hear the motor but it doesn't drown out other noises in the home environment.

Can anybody tell me how does this work? No instructions?

You can watch this Youtube tutorial titled "Mammoth Serenity Aroma Diffuser Setup".

Mammoth Allie Aroma Diffuser

'm looking for a diffuser that does NOT have a light, so I can keep my room dark. Does this one have a light?

This aroma diffuser does NOT have any lights. It simply only has one feature controlled by the one button - turn on and off.

Does this model have auto shut-off?

Yes, you don't have to worry. Once there is no water in the system it automatically shuts off.

Has anyone used this for citrus oil?

Yes, I have used the serenity model with grapefruit, orange, lemon, lime and bergamot. Usually, I diffuse other oils with the citrus, but I have not had any problems or seen any evidence of damage to the plastic with up to 6 drops of citrus oil.

How do you know if an essential oil is aromatherapy grade oil?

There are many different makers and sellers of essential oil; typically aromatherapy grade essential oil are the most pure and doesn't contain any base or fillers. The manufacturing company would provide purity testing, track record of materials, extraction methods, testing data like gas chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, refractive index and specific gravity as examples. All in all, research would be your best friend.

Where is this made?

Made in China.

Can this be used with citrus oils?

Absolutely. I use a lot of citrus based oils in mine and have not had any issues.

What color is the cord? Is it quiet? Will it leave vapor on my table?

The color of the cord is white. The diffuser is quite; it uses an ultrasonic plate to generate mist and a small fan to push the mist out. It typically does not leave vapor on table; but if your area is extremely humid, it can.

Mammoth Elevate Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser

How do you clean it between different oils?

Rinse then let it soak in warm water for 10 minutes. Afterwards I dump the water and wipe it with a cotton tip.

What is the voltage on the plug-in adapter? Is it 110 - 220 or US-voltage only?

It works on 110v to 240v. The unit itself is 12VDC, but the power adaptor can take 110v to 240v. The plug is the US plug but you can find an adaptor for another country.

Is it quiet?

It is very quiet. I had a different brand that used to wake me up when it was running out of water. This one does not do that at all.

Can light be off completely while misting?

Yes. The aroma diffuser comes with a remote which has a function to adjust light color, brightness and light-off (while the aromatherapy diffuser is still running).

Are there any reviews out there from people who DIDN'T receive this product for testing/reviewing purposes?

I purchased this product to use in the bedroom and then bring to the hospital when I give birth. So far it works well. It runs for a long time, turning off the mist periodically on it's own which I like so it seems to stay on longer. Remove the lid delicately so as not to make a mess as I have done a couple of times because I thought it should be out of water by now. I was wrong both times. It seems to shut off entirely, light and all, once it runs out of water. I am happy with this product.

Why can you only use aromatherapy grade essential oil and not therapeutic grade?

Typically aromatherapy grade essential oil doesn't have any fillers and that it has a higher grade content where it is easier to mist compared to therapeutic grade essential oil. We only approve usage of aromatherapy grade essential oil because if using other types of oil, the chances of gunking up the ultrasonic plate is much higher and thus easier to damage the unit. So from both an essential oil perspective and warranty perspective, we only recommend aromatherapy grade essential oil.

Mammoth Mini Ozone Air Purifier

Can you ozonate water with this unit?

No, you cannot. It plugs directly into the wall and is not set up with a way to attach a hose and ozonating stone. It also does not have an internal air pump. It only has a little fan.

Could it be used under 220v?

No. This model is only for 110v.

Bought one of these for litter box area. However, the instructions that came with the unit said not to use around pets or children. Is it good or bad?

Use in a low setting in a well ventilated area. If your cat is locked in the room with the ozone generator, do not use.

How many watts does it use?

The Mammoth Mini ion generator only utilizes as little as 4-7 Watts with a size of 5" x 4" x 3".

Is there a way to clean it?

Yes, the directions that come with it say to clean it with a cotton swap soaked in rubbing alcohol.

Would this help in eliminating the odor from a cat's litter box? And is it safe around pets?

Yes. We put one in our front bathroom. This room has our cat's litter box in it. The Ionic plug in made quite a difference. It completely took away the litter box smell. We don't let the litter box get too dirty. We scoop away the poop daily. The plug in left a faint ozone smell which to me smells like burnt dust. I wouldn't think it would affect your cats because you're not locking them in with only ozone air. This product doesn't cover up smells, it eliminates them.

Can I use it in kids bedrooms?

Ozone is natural and safe, the debate is how much ozone is too much. I'm not a doctor, but I've done a lot of research on this technology and I would say this should be safe in a kids bedroom. It doesn't emit that much ozone to be harmful and I can definitely smell more ozone outside (now that I know what it smells like, especially after rain/thunder) than this unit can put into a small room. This works best for "spot" cleaning air in particular places. Under the kitchen sink, next to shoe racks, diaper bin, in a closet, bathroom, put a smelly object in a shoe-box with this purifier, etc. I often plug mine in upside-down so the ozone emitter points up rather than down. I think this unit is rated for about 75 cubic feet.

That working voltage 110 or 230 volt?

Normal USA voltage is 120.

How loud is it?

It's pretty quiet. I use it by my bed at night. It doesn't disturb me. The noise it makes is very low key.

Does it work on fungus around the house? I am treating my cat from fungal infection she seems to have spread the fungus around the house.

Mammoth Classic Air Purifier - Classic 7 Stage

When you turn on the ozone, does the fan also have to be turned on for the ozone to work?

You can switch the Ozone dial to on and set it to desired level; but it will still remain off whenever the fan is off. The fan needs to be on in order for the ozone molecules to get pushed out of the air purifier; otherwise without wind and airflow, the diffusions of ion will be very slow (and you don't want highly concentrated area of ozone vs little ozone area)--so circulation is important for air filtration. That's why this HEPA Ozone air purifier uses a strong fan capable of a high RPM.

First time I set the ozone on 2 fan on high within 2 hours, I could really smell it. Shut off for a week, now set on high I barely smell it, is this normal?

I had the same experience with it. I cleaned ceramic plate by soaking it in an ammonia solution. It seems to work cleaning the air, but that distinctive smell is gone.

How often to you need to replace the filters?

The standard way manufactures say their replacement life is by 12 hour a day. In that case, 1 year. Otherwise, since almost everyone leave their air purifier on continuously, we always recommend every 6 months (because it's 24 hours a day run time). This is what's typical; if your house is near a bigger source of air pollutants, you might want to do so sooner (you will notice a huge difference in color with a new filter vs an old one).

How loud is it?

It is quite audible. At the lowest setting, it is about 55db at six feet, and at highest, about 60-65db. Normal conversation is about 60, so as loud as a person talking. For comparison: subjectively, a refrigerator is audible, but ignorable. That's about 50db when the compressor kicks in. At the lowest setting, this unit is like a white noise machine. You get used to it. At the highest, you may have to raise your voice to be heard, as it's 10x the loudness of the frig (decibel scale is logarithmic).

What is the CADR rating for this unit?

I don't know the clean air delivery rate! You may want to go to Mammoth to find out the rates for pollen, dust etc. because there is a different rate for each and every category! We just turn it on and leave for a half hour for smells and whole house (2800 sq ft) smells clean. For dust and other pollutants may take up to an hour to care for. Dust will be on all flat surfaces and you will need to dust!

Can I leave out the ozone plates for no ozone? Does it produce ozone continuously with the plates in?

There is a switch that you turn ozone off and on.

What is the exact description of the filter model for the Mammoth Air Purifier Classic Real Wood 7 Stage purifier so that when I need to order I know?

You would want to look for the Mammoth Classic 7 Stage Replacement Filter (it has built into the same filter - HEPA filter, Carbon Filter, Photocatalytic Filter, and a Pre-Filter).

Are the filters washable?

The filters are not washable. Because this is a 3 in 1 filter, both the carbon filter and the photocatalytic filter simply gets used up over time. Some competitors do advise their HEPA filter is washable (but it should be cleared up that washable by removing larger dust particles), and our filter has a pre-filter built in where once a month, we recommend just brushing or wiping off larger particles. We have found that there's no real way to wash micro particles off a HEPA filter when they are fully trapped inside the HEPA material. We recommend replacing the filter every 6 months (after continuous 24/7 usage)

Mammoth xC Air Purifier

Where can I find replacement filters for this xc7 unit? I saw replacement parts for the classic and the 1000 series model but nothing for the xc7.

This is not the same Ice-Tech filter as the one used in the 1000 model. I checked with Mammoth., Spoke with the president of the company - Richard Oberlander. He advised that since the xC 7-stage purifier is their newest, the Ice-Tech filters are on their way. Amazon will soon have them, but there has been a delay is shipping. I own three units (the X-C, 7 Stage Air Purifier by Mammoth) and wanted to make sure that the 3 in1 Ice-Tech filters are available. As of January 18, 2015, they are not available, not even directly from Mammoth, but soon will be; But please be aware that other Ice-Tech 3 in 1 filters (such as the one used in the Mammoth 1000) will NOT fit the XC-7 Stage Mammoth Air Purifier.

How often do you turn the ozone on & for how long?

There is a formula that you can use. Every state has there own regulations to include EPA. Ozone is harmful to humans and animals in large concentration. See Wikipedia. I turn my on when there are not people in my house. This unit has a very strong fan and can push a lot of air in one hour. I turn the timer on, on the ozone, on the first floor while on the second floor, and on the second floor if I'm on the first. I have a very small dog, and he needs to be keep in another floor because ozone near ground could be bad for him and house plants. Keep it to less than two hrs at times is safe. I belief that EPA use an 8-hr for measurement. But check Wikipedia. Ozone decays quickly so it will not stay around for long.

Do I need a 2 year square trade warranty?

New units normally have a 5 year warranty that covers everything but the ceramic plates and filter.

Which is better for reducing pet odors, UV or ozone? Many air purifiers on the market offer only one or the other.

UV doesn't do much with odor. It's more for bacteria, mold spores and viruses. The ozone will work against odors but we always advise on using ozone where there's no pets or human around. This model has a separate on/off timer feature for ozone so we highly recommend using that to take advantage of time when you and/or your pets might be out of that area/space.

Does this unit have one or two ceramic plates?

It has slots for 2 ozone plates, but comes with only 1 plate.

Which product is best for just eliminating cooking smells in kitchen quickly?

The Mammoth XC is the latest Air Purifier in our line of air purifiers and is perfect for removing foul odors. This can be achieved by using the Ozone feature. Ideally the Ozone feature should be used no longer than 50-60 minutes in 1 day. The unit covers an area of 2500 square feet with the Ozone feature on.

Can I purchase replacement ceramic ozone plates of the Mammoth xC7?

Yes. We don't carry them right now but you can search for ceramic ozone plates on amazon and they should be 4x4 inches and they would work. Otherwise, you can also check on the manufacture website and order directly from them too!

I do repairs that require no dust. Does this remove all dust?

It will not get rid of all the dust, it helps reducing considerable but there is always some dust.

On high how much noise does this make? Is it safe around pets? I have a cat and birds and not sure if this will bother them.

On high it is loud, about as loud as a 12 inch fan on high. I am not sure why you would have it on high. I keep mine on 24/7, on the lowest setting, no ozone and it refreshes the air in my 1400 sq ft main floor easy. The only thing that might bother the pets would be the ozone setting, but you can schedule that and put them in a back room. I have a cat and bird, they have never had an issue with it.

How do you change the UV light? How do you get at it without touching the bulb?

Use latex or cotton gloves.

If I sit in front of this machine to smoke, will it eliminate the smoke odor when it comes out?

I can't say 100% for sure, but I can say after washing my 100 Golden Retrievers, that wet dog odor is taken from the air. I love mine. Works great!

If I leave the fan on constantly but set the ozone to a timer (on at 8am, off at 8:30am) will it keep that daily schedule until I change it?

Yes. The way the timer work is that once you press the button to turn on the timer, the timer will stay in effect until you manually press the timer to remove the timer function. So if you set it to Ozone from 8am to 8:30am, it will do that every day until you press the "Ozone Timer" to turn that timer off.

What amount of ppm of ozone does this emit?

It does not specify the amounts but it has 4 settings. I have problems with my lungs and I find that going to the lowest setting helps. Whenever I leave the house I put it on the highest setting and it kills all the odors.

Has anyone found replacement filters or UV replacement bulbs for this model yet?

You can order the filters at www.mpurifier.com. I haven't needed a UV bulb yet but could ask about replacements when ordering filter. The number for Mammoth is 1-800-470-4201.

Where can I purchase a UV replacement lamp for this unit? I've searched the Amazon site, and they apparently do not sell a replacement UV.

You can order UV replacement at www.mpurifier.com or call 1-800-470-4201.

Can this unit be laid on its side and still function properly (above fridge in travel trailer)?

It will still function but when we built the fan with vibration testing, it is design to absorb the vibration from the bottom. So if you do lay it on the side, we suggest putting a thick towel or something soft to absorb any small vibration the unit has while the fan is running.

Will this unit handle a house of 1600 to 1800 square feet adequately?

According to the manufacturer specifications it will clean up to 2500 square feet. Just be aware that is with ozone, so you would not want to be at home while ozone is used. You can set a timer for when you aren't at home in order for the ozone to be on. Without ozone, it will purify about 600 square feet.

Mammoth Q3 Air Purifier

Does the ionizer cause ozone? I see they mention Plasmawave tech but they also mention ionization. Can you turn off ionization?

On the description on Amazon, it says that the Plasmawave does not generate ozone. In the manual, it says that there is an "ozonator". There is no way to turn off the ionization, as there is a single dial on the front that turns on and adjusts fan speed the more you turn it. The ionizer itself isn't a problem, as positive/negative ions are perfectly safe, but I'm still unclear myself as to whether this generates ozone. I would contact customer support, which I very well may do so myself to verify.

Are the filters washable?

The pre-filter is washable but the main filter is not.

Where is the Plasmawave and the UV Light? The long tube looks like the UV light to me.

You are right. The long tube is the UV light. The plasma generator is linked up to one of the two prongs on the top side of the air purifier. You will notice two sets of prongs - one for plasmawave and another for ions.

Does Amazon sell the filters for this unit?

Yes. It's Mammoth Air Purifier Q3 7 Stage Replacement Ice Tech 4-in-1 Pre-Filter, HEPA, Carbon, & Photocatalytic Filter.

How noticeable is the high pitch sound from the plasmawave generator?

Honestly, I think this question is difficult to answer because of the varying degrees of sensitivity people have. I'm somewhat sensitive to sounds but more so to smells and allergens, so I'm okay with it. I've never had a problem with, and in fact like, a little white noise such as a fan or AC. This does go beyond those sounds in pitch, but I perceive that my lungs feel better so I can deal with it. For me it's a trade off because I have asthma, terrible allergies and a family history of COPD. Also I live in a busy & loud area, so the white noise can drown out other sounds, which is a plus. It really depends on one's senses, I think.

Can this unit be used in a car?

No, it is for your home or office space.

Does it fit countries that are 220V? Just wondering if it comes with a transformer that says it can be used between 100v-220v.

Yes. This Mammoth HEPA air purifier has the transformer that works for 100v - 220v. However, you will need an adaptor unless the plug in your country has the same type as the ones in the US.

Is the plasmawave does put out a odor like ozone or similar?

Yes, however it is barely noticeable unless you place your nose over the unit.

Received the two I ordered today. One of the clips on the UV light is broken and both have a pretty annoying electrical high pitched hum. Anyone else?

Yes. I had a clip broken on one of the 2 units ordered. However, it does not seem to affect the function. I have been using both units in my office for several months without any issues. I just got used to the high pitched hum. The filters do work well without giving off strong negative ion odors.

I have the 7 stage model. The fan motor makes a rubbing noise - very irritating. Anyone else?

Mine is very quiet. I would get advice from the maker.

Would the smaller 4-stage model remove strong cooking smells?

I believe the 7 & 4 stage units are the same in size. Both use a Pre-filter, pleated HEPA Filter and odor carbon Filter. The carbon filter is for odor. So it would help. I purchased for my wife to use in her office. It's a nice looking small unit for that environment. It's small and may not be able to do what you want it to do . Maybe in a small kitchen.

How many square feet will this unit service effectively?

400 to 500 sq feet; maybe more if you have an open layout. I do not.

Mammoth Classic Air Purifier - Classic 5 Stage

I always bought the ALPINE AIR units for $299-399. Why are these so much less? DO THESE PUT OUT THAT WONDERFUL FRESH "AFTER IT RAINS" SCENT?

I'm not the seller, but I too owned and briefly even SOLD the Alpine product years ago. The Alpine business model (was then) basically a MLM co. So the price was high / Set A distributor couldn't really sell it for less than the set price. ~150 is the 'new' going price for units like this one as more competitors are selling, and more directly via sites like Amazon and other global marketplaces.

How often you change the filter?

The filter should be changed every 6 months if used continuously. HEPA filter traps very fine particles, down to 0.3 micro; and the carbon filter absorbs the small and other particles from the air. People are always surprised when they see the old one vs new one (and that's only the big particles trapped). The replacement filters are $20.

I home has two floors, will this provide coverage for both?

We also have two floors and a full basement. We run one unit in the basement and the other on the stairway to the second floor. We get good coverage on the first floor (if your floor plan is open) and we can also smell the ozone on the second floor. If the area is not "open", I'd suggest one unit on both floors. These work great! If there is ever a problem with the unit, they are incredibly quick about offering repair. One of ours had a rattle in the fan, they paid for shipping, called and told us what they had fixed, and returned the unit promptly. Mammoth is a very good company to deal with.

Does the product manual that came with it specify how many percent of bacteria and other pollutants can the device remove?

A quick scan of the manual indicates 99% of bacteria, mold and allergens are trapped. You can view a PDF of the manual here: Mammoth Air Classic Manual.

Will the ozone effect house plants?

Best answer I can give you is here: Effects of Ozone Air Pollution on Plants. I would say if you follow the suggested run time for the O3 it won't be a problem as long as your living space can be ventilated after. I've only run it once for about an hour in an open plan 1000 sq ft area and there was no damage to my plants, but that was just one use. If you have a large amount of plants in the area and it's condensed then maybe you would see some leaf speckling, but I think you would have to go out of your way to do that. Don't use this in a greenhouse as it's un-necessary. Remember your wonderful plants already clean the air pretty well for you.

Are all filters washable or do I have to buy more to replace them?

The HEPA filters are not washable as they trap very fine particles; the carbon filter works by absorbing odors, so once it's fully saturated, it won't do any good; and if you are looking for the model with UV, the photocatalytic properties at the back of the filter breaks down via UV overtime. the ozone plate last a lot longer. replace filters every 6 months.

All I need to eliminate is smoke odor - will this do it in 1500 sq. ft.?

Yes, I think so it worked to remove the smoke smell from my mother in laws furniture she is storing in my basement.

Is it okay to run this in the basement to get rid of the musty smell and still be at home?

Yes, I've used this product in musty areas and it is effective. I've been home and have used this product around my kids and pets with no detrimental results. I recommend changing the filter often, every 3 months. One draw back I have found is the bare wiring inside the unit will eventually rust, and the fan needs cleaned and lubricated from time to time to keep it running in top shape.

If I have dogs can I leave it running while I'm at work or will it hurt my dogs?

Important mode is Ozone mode. Unit can run all the time when NOT in the Ozone mode at any fan setting. In large floor plans such as more than approximately 800 or 1000 square feet, it is probably safe to operate in the Ozone mode at the LOWEST setting for Ozone and Fan for long periods of time. We have operated in an in-law suite continuously for more than 12 hours if needed for significant odor control without adverse effect on people.

I have six not house trained dogs. Will it remove the urine smell in the carpets?

The ozone will help destroy the odor, but the best air purification is to remediate the smell source and use the air purifier as a supplement source. Also, large amount of ozone, while works to destroy odor, is not recommended for human and pets. We advise using ozone when no one is around and programmed to turned off (this model will require a manual timer or opening the windows to air out) when someone enters the room again.

Any idea as to whether this ionizer will help someone with sleep problems?

Not that I know of, it just purifies the air you breath.

I accidentally pulled power cord out while dusting/wiping it down it was running at the time - when a replied in the machine did not not work.

It sounds like you have blown the fuse. The product comes with an extra fuse you can try (the fuse holder is the block knob in the back that you hand unscrew and put the new fuse back on). If you need to buy a fuse, you can go to any hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowes for that fuse. It's easy to find. If you need more help, contact Mammoth Air Purifier.

I just cracked the plastic around where the power plug connects. Is there a way to order a new piece (it unscrews)?

Yes you can. You can contact the Mammoth Air Purifier manufacture and they can help you with it.

Does this have Photo Catalytic Oxidation capabilities?

No, it does not have PCO. I do know "green air machine" has PCO.

How quiet is this?

It is pretty quiet. It sits close to our bed on our boat, so I turn it off when we go to sleep, but it is on otherwise. We only periodically use the ozone part.

I purchased this a year ago and now the fan is making a loud noise. How do I get that fixed as it has a 3 year warranty?

You will need to contact the factory to process a claim. It would be simpler, if you process the claim through the vendor you purchased it from. You must provide the details of your purchase, such as, date of purchase, your order ID and who you purchased it from. As per factory Warranty policy, there is a $35.00 deductible that will be charged for the repair but they will cover all shipping both ways. Please let us know if you need additional information.

Is it hard to get replacement filters?

The filters are available on amazon, on the manufacture's website (free shipping as well) as well as our store (free shipping also). Mammoth claims to have one of the cheapest replacement filter cost (including free shipping as well). Keep in mind replacement filter should be replaced after 6 months of continuous use according to Mammoth Air Purifier for this HEPA/Carbon Odor filter (note that some replacement filter says 12 hour use vs the 24 hour use); small detail but that's 50% shorter, which means 50% more expensive.

What are the measurements of the unit?

12" x 9" x 12" small but powerful.

What sq. footage does it cover?

600 sq feet w/o OZONE, 2500 with OZONE.

Is the warranty 3 or 5 years? Near the top of Amazon's page it refers to a 5 year limited warranty. Under prod description "Mammoth 3 Year Warranty".

My warranty card that came in the package with the user manual says one year and you can get a free extended warranty.

Can I remove the ionizer plates? I just want a smoke/carbon cleaner. Would it still filter the smoke?

There are two switches: one ionizes, and one produces ozone. The plates are for ozone. The filtration is mostly to keep the insides of the machine clean, it seems to me. I never use the ozone function.

<>Does this unit meet California standards for ozone emissions? Is it safe to run the ozone generator when a human and 2 cats are home?

From what I have read. NO. This machine will crank ozone. just be wise and use it. You will be impressed. No more smells. Im in Florida and leave it on ozone low and fan high when needed.

Is this actually effective for specifically, *cigarette* smoking inside an apartment?

It depends on how big the sq. foot area you are trying to clean. I have 1500 sq. foot in downstairs and 12 small dogs. 2 units work well. They run 24/7. The trick is to keep the paper filter changed regularly ( I do @ 3 months) and the inside ceramic plates cleaned. I soak them in ammonia 2 time a year. Mine have been running for many years. Beware of excess humidity in the air, it will corrode wire connections.

Does this product produce negative ions?

Yes it has both ozone and negative ions, as well as a HEPA filter.

Does this unit work well for eliminating cigarette smoke and odor? I am planning to use it in our glass-enclosed smoking porch.

Yes, I think it would work well. We used ozinator for a place we recently rented and it worked wonders on the old cigeratte smoke but just know you will have to run all the time as smoke is one of the worst smells to get rid of. Works wonders on odor.

How many square feet does it cover?

My house is 2300 square foot and I have placed it near the intake vent for the AC/Heating and it appears to cover the entire house. I have really bad allergies and this has helped tremendously throughout the house, so I can only assume it's covering a very large area. My second home is smaller and I had to put it in a central location, but it's works just a well. I'm very happy with the performance and looks of the product.

Will it remove dander?

If its air born and makes it to the filter. Once on a surface in the room. Has to be wiped up.

Does this unit have a UV bulb?

No, it uses two ceramic plates.

Can I use the Mammoth Air Purifier while my fan is also running?

If you mean a ceiling fan, the answer is yes. In fact, we usually run both together to help move the ionized air around the house. Just remember, you don't want to use the ozone (O3) generator while you are in the house. Use a timer for this mode, and have it turn off at least a half hour or so before re-entering the house.

Where do you get the filters when they need replaced?

Phone # on machine for customer support 800-470-4201 or email support@mpurifier.com.

How do you change ozone gen. plates?

You simply take off the back panel (the HEPA filter). On the inside are two slide ports that the O-zone plates fit into by pushing them into place. No tools necessary.

I will be out of town and return on June 2nd. If I was to order today can you make sure I do not get delivery until I return?

I can almost guarantee that we can make that happen for you.

Is this unit a dual ceramic ozone plate purifier or does it use just one 4 1/2" x 4 12" plate? In other are the 2 plates used simultaneously?

Yes, both plates are used simultaneously, they come in the box seperately. You can opperate the unit with or with out them.

Why does it seem to have slowed down on the cleaning? I have the settings set at half way, no dust on the plates, is it the filter?

I've not had this issue, so I'm not sure why it's not functioning efficiently. I would contact the manufacturer.

Does this help with the smell of cigarette smoke (from smoke that wafts into my condo unit under the door from neighbors who are smokers)?

If you run it all the time it will. The unit gives off a very distinct smell. Most say it smells like rain. I wouldn't call it that. If you run the ozone too long it almost makes the air seem stale. The ozone plate turns the oxygen into ozone which is O3 and after an hour it turns back into oxygen leaving the air seemingly clean. Let it run in your house for about an hour or so a day when your not home and the smell from it will last for a couple days even if you don't use it every day. Its not a bad smell, its just....odd smelling. But it kills bad odors like its going out of style. I'd buy another one. I actually have the more advanced, digital model with a timer on it. It costs like $150-$200 more but I got a free upgrade. I bought and paid for this one but then they emailed and said they were out of stock and gave me the upgrade for free.

Does the unit have a timer for the ozone generator?

No, you must manually turn the ionizer on and off.

Is it possible to operate the ionizer function without the ozone generator, or do they always operate together?

They can operate seperately although the air filter portion of this device is pretty much worthless. It's a great ionizer though.

Is the filter of Mammoth Classic HEPA washable?

The ionic plates are washable, the filter on the back is disposable.

Filter replacement?

While I ordered the "Classic" model, it was not in stock and Mammoth substituted the "1000" model. The main filter on the 1000 is washable and does not require replacement. I have no firsthand knowledge of the Classic model.

Are the Charcoal filter come in the boxes?

The new model (this listing) has the Charcoal and HEPA filter built into one, so no need to worry about inserting multiple filters. The new filter, not shown here, also comes with a pre-filter built in.

Does this collect pet hair?

Whatever is in the air the machine will collect. Most hair are not floating in the air so pet hair will not technically be sucked into the filter. However, you will see small hair, dust and dirt collected on the filter.

Does this come with 2 ozone plates, i.e., does this employ 1 ozone plate or 2 ozone plates while it is running?

The Mammoth Classic uses 2 ozone plates. I believe it came with both plates. You can order extra plates at a reasonable price. The ozone function on this air cleaner is STRONG. I usually use a timer with it for when we are out of the house to sanitize the air. When home, we use the ionizer function only. I hope this helps!
